The Disability Advocacy Hour Podcast: Episode 3 - 30 Years of the ADA
The third episode of The Family Café Disability Advocacy Hour Podcast is now available!
With the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act coming up on July 26th, we’ve placed the focus on the ADA, what it means, and how it came to be.
To give us a first-hand view, we’ve invited our friend Bobby Silverstein, who served as staff director and chief counsel for the Senate Subcommittee on Disability Policy, chaired by Senator Tom Harkin during the time when the ADA was making its way through Congress. He shares his stories about how the ADA came to be, explores what it meant for the disability movement, and lets us know what lessons today’s advocates can apply in their own work.
