Statewide Family Network for Mental Health
The Family Café is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a three-year grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to coordinate family networking around mental and behavioral health in Florida.
For decades, The Family Cafe has been a leader in bringing together families, policy-makers and stakeholders from throughout Florida to network, share concerns and discuss important issues. As a result of that success, SAMHSA has selected The Family Cafe to serve at its Statewide Family Networking partner here in Florida.
The purpose of the Statewide Networking grant is to develop and enhance the capacity of families, organizations and other stakeholders to transform the system of care for children and youth with severe emotional disturbance, and other behavioral health challenges.
The project will provide families of children and youth with the resources and information necessary to navigate the system of care and be full partners in the system of care change agents. The project will also include a strong youth component, to ensure that youth with serious emotional disturbances develop leadership skills and the capacity to participate as partners in the evolution and development of programs within the system of care.
There will be much more information about the Statewide Family Network in the months to come. Please check back for updates to this section of FamilyCafe.net.
We look forward to partnering with families around the state to make a real difference in the system of care.
